Sophie graduated from The University of Sydney in 2012. She has worked in a range of different Paediatric settings including in homes, schools, and private practices. Sophie is passionate about supporting families and children to develop, grow, and relate using nature and adventure-based therapies within individual and group settings.
At Adventure OT, Sophie Jakimyszyn combines her extensive experience and specialised training to provide professional education in the DIR-Floortime® model. As a certified Training Leader and Expert DIR-Floortime® Provider through the Interdisciplinary Council on Development and Learning, Sophie offers targeted training sessions for professionals and families to empower them with skills to better support individuals.
DIR 101 Course: Foundations of DIR-Floortime®
Led by Sophie, a registered DIRFloortime® instructor through the Interdisciplinary Council on Development and Learning (ICDL), this introductory course is designed for parents, educators, and allied health professionals who want to build a strong foundation in the DIR-Floortime® approach.
Throughout the course, participants will explore:

The developmental capacities in children and how to foster their growth

Individual differences, including sensory processing profiles

The relationship-based principles that underpin the DIR-Floortime® model

Practical strategies for using Floortime techniques in everyday interactions
This ICDL-registered course provides a comprehensive overview of DIR-Floortime®, giving participants the knowledge and confidence to begin applying its core principles immediately.
